Lac Dyed Linen and Wool

So these days I find myself playing with lac and indigo and dyeing fabrics . . .
Soon to be translated to book arts, but just not yet . . .

I bought some plain wool and linen, and then mordanted the fabrics. They were both put into a lac vat, and left to cool over night. I rinsed the fabric and then washed and dried the two pieces. I was expecting a more red / cranberry shade, but have now come to love the beet borsch color of the wool (for an alter cloth) and linen (for some apparel.)

Here are some photos of what is going on in and around Still Water Bindery.
So come to Newfane, VT and play with me!
